The taro root is a fleshy underground plant and is also known under the name “colocasia”. It has an oval shape with a brown skin and whitish-yellow flesh.
Storage & Use:
The taro root should be stored in a cool, dark and well-ventilated place. Before consumption, the outer skin is always removed first and the roots should never be eaten raw. Once peeled, it can be stored in a bowl of water until needed. Colocasias can be roasted, fried, or boiled.
